Personal Travel Blogs that Inspire Me

When you need travel inspiration, who or what do you turn to? Facebook? Pinterest? Instagram? Good ol’ Google? A favorite travel blogger?

Or something else?

It’s common knowledge that travel bloggers these days are a dime a dozen. It seems everyone has built their own website to chronicle their yearly (or monthly) vacations, and that’s fine. But you what REAL information about a destination. So how do you wade through the muck and get to the REALLY good ones? Who are those bloggers who go beyond the catchy headline and over-the-top personality to give you real information you crave?

Well, me for one!

But I am not writing this article to toot my own horn. There are plenty others like me who have made it their goal in life to bring you the best information out there in terms of where to go and how to spend your precious vacation time.

The following are the travel bloggers I look to regularly to give me inspiration and information. These guys give it to you real – no fake news here, folks. They are the real deal. And they have inspired me to keep my own Pacific Northwest travel blog going. Because I know that Explorer Sue is very useful to some of you!

I WILL live here someday!

The Mandagies

Berty and Emily are a husband-and-wife travel blogging team from Seattle, WA. Not only do they post helpful and entertaining articles about Pacific Northwest destinations, they travel all over the world Berty is from Indonesia, and Emily is from Washington State. So they are the perfect duo to read about adventures to be had from all over the world.

Dame Tripper

Currently making her home in Washington State, Annie is great because she has been traveling solo since before the genre became a “thing”. She encourages you to get out of your comfort zone and open your mind to new experiences. Some of her posts are among the most unique I’ve ever read. And that’s refreshing.

Local Adventurer

Esther and Jacob are true digital nomads. They spend about a year in one place, soaking it up long enough to call themselves a local, then move on to the next great adventure! They did spend one year in Portland exploring the Pacific Northwest. Out of that came some really great articles that helped inspire me to expand that concept and start my own blog about the Pacific Northwest exclusively!

Postcards to Seattle

Marissa is an outdoor enthusiast from Seattle. Not only does she blog about the Pacific Northwest, she tells of her adventures the world over. In addition to giving helpful tips and advice about travel gear and blogging, her Outdoor Adventures sections cover camping, skiing, scuba diving and more.

The Sweetest Way

Leah is the author of this awesome lifestyle and travel blog, which focuses on location independence. She grew up in central Washington State and has many wonderful articles about Oregon and Washington. If you are at all interested in being a digital nomad, start with her website!

Ottsworld

Sherry left her cube-dwelling job in New York City over ten years ago and has not stopped traveling since! She is my digital nomad guru. What I love about Sherry is that she chose to be essentially ‘homeless in style’ by constantly moving from one great adventure to another. Only this year has she put down roots in Denver, CO. But she is still traveling! See my article on her blog here.

The Everywhereist

Oh, my goodness this Seattle lady is the funniest blogger I have ever come across. You’ve no doubt her of her; some of her posts have gone so viral that Time Magazine has paid attention. Geraldine is the genius creator of The Everywhereist. What started as an innocent travel blog has morphed over the years into a powerhouse of brilliant insightfulness. Along with her worldly travels, read about love, politics, and her own brain surgery.

Hand Luggage Only

Yaya and Lloyd are two handsome Brits who only started their blog in 2014. But boy have they come far! There are so many epic tidbits to this website: travel, photography, hacks, food, videos and more! Pace yourself! It’ll take a while to absorb it all.

Man on the Lam

Raymond’s website subtitle says it all, “A Curious Gentleman’s Guide to Escapes & Escapism”. When I first came across this blog, it charmed my socks off. But his musings can also be funny as hell. With sections aptly named ‘Loot’, ‘Canteen’ and ‘Peculiarities’, he will entertain you for hours.
