The Great Pacific Northwest Travel Blog Roundup 2021

If you’re looking for things to do in the Pacific Northwest, you’ve hit the jackpot! These Washington and Oregon vacation ideas are the cat’s meow. I’ve gleaned some pretty tasty ideas from these blogs myself.

Oregon is for Adventure

Nina (of ‘Where in the World is Nina’ fame) and Garrett are full time travelers who call Oregon their home base. In just the short time this blog has been around, they’ve amassed quite an impressive collection of incredible things to do and see around my great state of Oregon. I definitely have some blog envy here! They’ve really done a good job with this site, with loads of information, including road trip ideas, great hiking suggestions, and activities to do around Oregon all year long.

Explore Washington State

Explore Washington State launched in 2016 and should be your new go-to guide for everything Evergreen State related.  Whether you are searching for inspiration for your next great outdoor adventure, day trips with the family, or finding hidden eateries across the state. They have expanded on their original vision and now include multiple podcast episodes weekly as well as original written content daily.  You will always find something new to explore when you visit Explore Washington State.

Gorge in the Gorge

This blog will seriously make your mouth water. Not only do Kacie and Kate (from Hood River) consider themselves foodies, they’re pretty good writers as well, and they launched this blog in an effort to bring the community together with food. They support local chefs, farmers, bartenders, bakers, winemakers, brewers, and small business owners in the Columbia River Gorge. What I love about this site is not only that they write about their great restaurant experiences, but they also offer incredible recipes for cooking at home.

Pacific Northwest Wanderers

As a self-proclaimed Pacific Northwest travel guide, I have to admire Brandon and Stacy from Tacoma, WA for putting together a stellar PNW outdoor adventure site. They have a stunning variety of subjects they cover, everything from backpacking hikes through remote Oregon lands, to outdoor adventure product reviews, to handy maps of where state parks and other adventures can be had. There’s even a blog post about beer hiking! Yes, I’ll be going on that one, for sure. Whether it’s hiking, biking, camping, snowshoeing, or even geocaching, they’ve got you covered, and then some.

The Local Arrow

Run by the Hasson real estate company, this is more of an Oregon and southwest Washington lifestyle blog than strictly a travel blog, and a darn fine one at that! It blends nicely with a travel theme in that they offer some amazing shopping, dining, real estate and getaway ideas. There is an entire section devoted to neighborhoods in the local real estate market, so if you’re looking to move here (or move to a different neighborhood) there is some really good information.

Bearfoot Theory

Another great Washington State travel blog. They offer not only stellar ideas for how to explore the state, they offer practical information about winter hiking clothes, product reviews, inspiration for camper van designs, and health tips on the road. They also go beyond their homeland to write about many other different places in the U.S. and beyond. Van life has been all the rage with many bloggers and vloggers, and this website has their own dedicated section devoted to different aspects of van life that’s both informative and entertaining.

Pacific Northwest & Beyond

I’ve been following this blog for a while now. Both a local events and a travel blog, Cheryl covers a wide range of stuff, but nowadays her focus will be on local walks, hikes, rides and routes around Washington state. As many good travel bloggers are doing, she is focusing her efforts on environmentally friendly travel by doing it more locally. She is keen on partnering with local event organizers with a view to outdoor sustainable adventures. So if you’re planning a trip to the Seattle area and surrounding environs, this website is a great resource.

I hope that you will be inspired by these blogs, much as I am. Aside from my own blog, there is a wealth of information here about Oregon and Washington that will inspire you to come visit us in the Pacific Northwest!
